Jiwa is a destination restaurant concept created for a luxury resort setting, inspired by fire, sun, and the elemental energy of its environment. Named after the Indonesian word for soul, the brand draws from warmth, movement, and emotional connection, with a strong sense of ritual, atmosphere, and place.

I developed the visual identity for Jiwa through an exploratory, hands-on process that began with custom calligraphic studies and logo exploration. This led to a fluid wordmark in a deep red hue, chosen to evoke heat, intensity, and the color of the soul at sunset. The final direction balanced expressiveness with restraint, resulting in a cohesive identity that felt cinematic, refined, and aligned with the expectations of luxury hospitality.

The identity was applied across menus and key guest touchpoints, reinforcing Jiwa’s emotional tone and creating an experience that felt immersive, intentional, and grounded in its setting.

Jiwa, meaning soul in Indonesian, served as the foundation for the brand exploration.

In response to the restaurant’s concept and its fire-driven performances, I developed four logo options that interpret soul through fluid, expressive, and refined forms.

Each direction offers a distinct yet cohesive expression, balancing warmth, movement, and elegance while allowing the identity to feel both meaningful and adaptable across the guest experience.

The final selected logo was the fluid wordmark, chosen for its expressive movement and emotional resonance. Rendered in a deep red tone inspired by sun, heat, and the natural energy of the beach, the mark reflects the meaning of Jiwa, and its connection to fire and ritual within the dining experience. Building on this foundation, I expanded the direction into a cohesive visual identity, translating the logo’s warmth and fluidity across color, typography, and branded touchpoints throughout the restaurant experience.
